Before you have iron, getting a bucket is a problem. Clay Bucket fixes that. Craft three pieces of clay into an Unfired Clay Bucket, smelt it, and you’ve got something that actually holds water and lava. It’s a stopgap item, but a genuinely useful one in those first few nights.
What It Does
The recipe is the same shape as an iron bucket, just clay instead. Three clay in a V gives you an Unfired Clay Bucket. Smelt that and you get the usable version.
Clay Buckets hold water normally with no issues. Lava works too, but there’s a catch: pour the lava out and the bucket crumbles. It’s gone. So pick your spot carefully before dumping it.
A couple of limitations worth knowing upfront:
- Can’t milk cows with it
- Can’t catch fish with it
That’s really it. For early water moving and getting your first lava source to a furnace before iron shows up, this one’s actually worth grabbing.
Requirements
- Minecraft Forge (for Forge versions)

How to Install
- Install Minecraft Forge or Fabric Modloader for your Minecraft version.
