Which algorithm should I use in BetterFps?

Riven's is the safest pick and consistently one of the top performers. Full and Half are also solid. Avoid Taylor's and Java Math since they actually run slower than vanilla Minecraft's default.

Does BetterFps work with OptiFine?

Generally yes, most players run them together without issues. OptiFine handles rendering optimizations while BetterFps targets math calculations, so they don't really step on each other.

Can I change the algorithm without restarting Minecraft?

Yes. Press F12 while in-game to open the config screen and swap algorithms on the fly. Changes apply immediately.

Does BetterFps help on servers?

It does. Servers run the same sine and cosine calculations for chunk generation and entity physics. Installing it server-side gives real performance gains, not just on the client.

Does BetterFps work with Forge or Fabric?

These older versions (1.7.10 through 1.12.2) require Minecraft Forge. A Fabric port exists for newer versions but is separate from this download.

Multiple Algorithms

Not all algorithms are created equal here. A few are actually worse than vanilla, so pick carefully:

Riven’s, Full, and Half are the best options and what most players should stick with
LibGDX is basically Riven’s with minor tweaks, so performance is about the same
Taylor’s and Java Math actually perform worse than vanilla. Avoid these.

In-Game Config Screen

Press F12 while in-game to open the algorithm selector. No restart needed. You can also edit the config file directly if you prefer.

Server-Side Support

Servers use the same sine and cosine math for chunk generation and entity tracking. Installing BetterFps on the server gives the same kind of gains you’d see client-side. Worth doing if you run your own server.

How to Install

Install Minecraft Forge for your Minecraft version
Download the BetterFps file for your version from the links below
Drop the .jar into your .minecraft/mods folder
Launch Minecraft. Press F12 in-game to pick your algorithm (Riven’s is a safe default)
