Miner Pottery Sherd Guide for Minecraft 1.20

The Miner Pottery Sherd is one of the pottery decorations added in Minecraft 1.20. You can’t craft it, but you can find it while exploring the world. Here’s everything you need to know about getting your hands on one.

What is the Miner Pottery Sherd?

A Miner Pottery Sherd is a decorative item that shows a pickaxe design. It was introduced alongside other pottery sherds in Minecraft 1.20 as part of the archaeology system. You can use sherds to decorate Decorated Pots, which look pretty cool as decorative blocks in your base.

Where to Find the Miner Pottery Sherd

In Survival Mode

You’ll find Miner Pottery Sherds inside suspicious sand blocks. Head to any Pyramid structure (Desert or Cold variants) and brush the suspicious sand with a Brush tool. You’ll get pottery sherds as loot. It’s random which sherds you get, but if you brush enough blocks, you’ll eventually find the Miner Pottery Sherd.

In Creative Mode

If you just want to grab one instantly, jump into Creative Mode and search for “miner_pottery_sherd” in the Ingredients tab. You can also use the give command.

How to Use It

Pottery sherds are purely decorative. Combine four different sherds on a Decorated Pot to customize its look. The Miner sherd works great if you’re building a mineshaft-themed base or anything mining-related.
