Grove Biome – Minecraft 1.18+ Guide

Explore the Grove biome in Minecraft 1.18+. Find spruce trees, powder snow, snowy foxes, and learn biome IDs and seeds.

What is the Grove Biome?

The Grove biome arrived in Minecraft with the Caves & Cliffs Update: Part II and spawned in snowy mountain terrain. You’ll find tall spruce trees, frozen lakes, and hills blanketed in snow. It’s similar to a snowy taiga but with more elevation and landscape variety. The powder snow here is dangerous if you’re not wearing leather armor, so watch your step.

Weather

Grove biomes get regular snowfall instead of rain. It’s cold year-round with consistent precipitation. Expect to see snow accumulating on surfaces and occasional snow particles falling.

Trees & Vegetation

Spruce trees dominate the Grove. They grow tall and are often packed close together, creating dense forest sections. The ground stays covered in snow and snow layers, so you won’t see grass or typical vegetation. Snow blocks and powder snow make up most ground cover.

Blocks You’ll Find

Grove biomes contain these blocks:

  • Ice – Appears on frozen lakes and water surfaces
  • Snow Blocks – Solid snow on the ground
  • Snow Layers – Single-block-high snow on top surfaces
  • Powder Snow – The hazardous kind that lets you sink. It causes a freeze effect and damages you unless you wear leather armor like leather boots

Dig deeper and you’ll hit standard ores like coal, iron, gold, diamond, redstone, and copper, just like anywhere else in the Overworld.

Mobs in the Grove

Wildlife here includes snowy foxes, wolves, and rabbits. You’ll also run into standard hostile mobs at night: creepers, endermen, skeletons, spiders, witches, and zombies.
