Tree Feller Data Pack: Realistic Tree Chopping
Tree Feller adds a simple but satisfying mechanic to vanilla Minecraft. Chop the bottom block of any tree with an axe and the entire thing falls. All the logs, all the leaves. One swing. Done. No more hunting for the last block floating 20 blocks up.
The pack works in multiplayer, has customizable settings, and won’t break your existing worlds. Install it and start chopping.
What It Does
Chop entire trees in one pass. Any tree shape, any size. The whole thing comes down when you hit the bottom block. Leaves break naturally or you can configure custom decay.
Axe debuffs by material type. So you can’t just spam-chop everything instantly. Different wood types have different chop times. Keeps things balanced.
Sneak to chop single blocks. Hold shift and you’ll just break that one block, no tree felling, no debuffs. Useful when you need to be precise.
Fully customizable. Adjust leaf decay speed. Turn debuffs on or off. Two simple commands to tweak it all.
Customization Settings
Use these commands to configure the pack on your world:
/trigger tf_leaf_decay set <0-50>– Controls how fast custom leaves break after the tree falls. Set to 0 to disable (vanilla randomTickSpeed handles decay instead)./trigger tf_debuff_tools set <0-1>– Toggle tool debuffs on (1) or off (0). Disable this if you want instant chopping.
Multiplayer Servers
Want to lock down settings so only admins can change them? Open the zip file and find hv/functions/update/trigger_settings.mcfunction. Add a hashtag (#) before each line or delete the contents entirely. Run /reload and the trigger commands become inactive.
If you still need to adjust settings as an admin, use scoreboard instead:
/scoreboard players set $HV_SETTING hv_lk_count <0-50>– Set leaf decay speed/scoreboard players set $HV_SETTING hv_dt_enable <0-1>– Enable or disable tool debuffs
How to Install
Data packs go directly into your world folder. Full instructions are available here: How To Download & Install Data Packs
