Do I need Thermal Expansion to use this mod?

Yes, Thermal Expansion is required. The turbines are built around TE's machine frame system, so you need the mod installed to use them.

How high do I need to build the wind turbines?

Build them at least 100 blocks high to get maximum power generation. At 60 blocks or lower, they produce zero RF. Heights between 60-100 will generate partial power based on altitude.

Can I use these turbines in my existing modpack?

If your modpack has Forge, Thermal Expansion, and RF mods, you can add these turbines. Just drop the mod into your mods folder and restart. Check for conflicts with other wind-based mods.

What happens if I place blocks near the turbine?

Redstone Flux Windmills adds wind turbines to Minecraft 1.7.10. These turbines generate RF (Redstone Flux) energy from wind, with output depending on altitude and surrounding space. They’re based on Thermal Expansion’s machine frames, so if you’re already using that mod, the turbines will look familiar.

Features

Four Turbine Tiers
Each tier generates different amounts of power and stores different amounts of RF:

Basic – Generates up to 5 RF/t, stores 16,000 RF
Hardened – Generates up to 15 RF/t, stores 32,000 RF
Reinforced – Generates up to 30 RF/t, stores 48,000 RF
Resonant – Generates up to 45 RF/t, stores 64,000 RF

Altitude Matters
Wind turbines generate no power at heights of 60 blocks or lower. They reach maximum output at 100 blocks and higher. This means you need to build them high up to get decent RF generation.

Placement Requirements
Turbines need clear space around them for wind to flow. Placing blocks within 10 blocks of the rotor will reduce effectiveness. Plan your build accordingly.

Wrench Support
Sneak-right click a turbine to check its current energy storage. Right-click with a Buildcraft-compatible wrench to rotate it. Sneak-right click with a wrench to instantly break it while keeping all stored power intact.

Installation

Download and install Minecraft Forge for version 1.7.10.
Download and install Thermal Expansion Mod (required).
Download the Redstone Flux Windmills mod file below.
Open your .minecraft folder and go to the mods subfolder.
Drag the downloaded JAR file into the mods folder.
Launch Minecraft with the Forge profile and enjoy.
