Soul Shards Reborn Mod 1.6.4-1.7.10

Soul Shards Reborn is a Forge mod that brings back the original Soul Shards concept. If you’ve never played with it before, here’s the deal: instead of strip mining for mob spawners, you can build them yourself by trapping mob souls in special shards. It’s a legit grind, but way more fun than luck-based spawner hunting.

What Does This Mod Do?

The basic premise is simple. Kill mobs, collect their souls, and level up your shard. Once it hits tier 5, you’ve got yourself a spawner that makes vanilla mob spawners look lazy. You can even control mobs that don’t spawn naturally in your current dimension.

Getting Started

First thing you need is a Soul Shard. To craft one, gather these materials:

• 8 End Stone
• 4 Netherrack
• 1 Glowstone block
• 1 Diamond

Next, build the structure in the world (check the mod for the exact layout), then right-click the center Glowstone block with the diamond. Done. You’ve got your Soul Shard.

How To Use Your Shard

Kill a mob with the shard in your inventory to bind its soul. A single shard only holds one mob type. Now you level it up by getting kills from that mob. Each tier gives you better spawning rates and less restrictive rules.

Tier Progression

There are 5 tiers total. Here’s what each one gives you:

• Tier 1: 64 kills required. Spawns 2 mobs every 20 seconds, follows vanilla spawner rules.
• Tier 2: 128 kills required. Spawns 4 mobs every 10 seconds, still uses vanilla rules.
• Tier 3: 256 kills required. Spawns 4 mobs every 5 seconds. No player proximity needed (chunk must load though).
• Tier 4: 512 kills required. Mobs can now spawn in non-native dimensions. Endermen in the Overworld? Sure.
• Tier 5: 1024 kills required. Spawns 6 mobs every 2 seconds, ignores all vanilla mechanics, responds to redstone signals.

All kill requirements are configurable in the mod config if you want to tweak them.

How To Install Soul Shards Reborn

1. Download and install Minecraft Forge for your version.
2. Download the mod file below.
3. Open your .minecraft folder.
4. Go to the mods folder (create it if it doesn’t exist).
5. Drop the downloaded jar file in there.
6. Launch Minecraft and enjoy.

Compatibility

Soul Shards Reborn works with other mods, but check the mod description for any known conflicts. Generally plays nice with most modpacks.
