How to Craft a Lingering Potion of Water Breathing
The Lingering Potion of Water Breathing is one of the most useful potions in Minecraft. When you throw it, it creates a cloud that gives anyone passing through the Water Breathing effect for 2 minutes. That means they can breathe underwater without dying, which is huge for underwater mining, exploring ocean temples, or just messing around in the ocean.
You can also use these potions to make tipped arrows if you want to get fancy with it.
What You Need to Make This Potion
To brew a Lingering Potion of Water Breathing, you’ll need:
- 1 Splash Potion of Water Breathing (long duration)
- 1 Dragon’s Breath
The hardest part is getting Dragon’s Breath. You’ll need to find it in the End dimension when the Ender Dragon summons its healing crystals. Look for the purple particles and grab them before they vanish.
Brewing Steps
1. Set Up Your Brewing Stand
Open your brewing stand. You’ll see three bottle slots at the bottom and one ingredient slot at the top. Start by putting blaze powder in the fuel slot on the left side to power the brewing stand.
2. Add Your Splash Potion
Place a Splash Potion of Water Breathing in one of the three bottom bottle slots. If you don’t have one yet, you’ll need to brew a regular Water Breathing potion first, then brew it again with gunpowder to make it splash.
3. Add the Dragon’s Breath
Put the Dragon’s Breath in the top ingredient slot. The brewing process will start automatically.
4. Wait for the Brew
You’ll hear a “glug glug glug” sound when it’s done. The Dragon’s Breath will disappear and you’ll have your Lingering Potion of Water Breathing (2:00).
Hover over the bottle in the brewing stand if you want to double check the name and duration before grabbing it.
