The poisonous potato is a food item you can find in Minecraft villages. When you eat one, it gives you the Poison effect for a few seconds. You can’t craft it or get it from a furnace, so finding villages is your only option in survival mode.

In creative mode, you’ll find the poisonous potato in your inventory under the food categories:

How to Get Poisonous Potatoes in Survival
Step 1: Locate a Village
Villages spawn in different biomes across your world. Look for plains villages, desert villages, savanna villages, or others. You’re looking for the structures and buildings that make up a village settlement.
Step 2: Find the Crop Gardens
Once you’re in a village, search for the garden areas where farmers grow crops. You’ll see potato plants growing in rows with dirt blocks underneath them.
Step 3: Harvest the Potato Plants
Break the potato plants by left-clicking and holding on them (Java), or using the equivalent action on your platform. Most of the time you get normal potatoes, but occasionally you’ll get a poisonous potato instead. It’s about a 2% drop rate.
Step 4: Grab It Before It Despawns
Once the plant breaks, pick up the poisonous potato quickly. Items disappear after 5 minutes if you don’t grab them.

What You Can Do With Them
Poisonous potatoes aren’t useful for much. You can eat them to get poisoned (not great), compost them for bone meal, or just keep them as a novelty item. Some players collect them as decorations or curiosities. If you’re looking for actual food, regular potatoes and baked potatoes are way better.
