Light Gray Concrete Powder Crafting Guide
Light gray concrete powder is one of the most useful building blocks in Minecraft. It’s easy to craft once you have the materials, and you can make 8 blocks at a time. The powder itself doesn’t harden until you get it wet, so keep that in mind if you’re working near water.
Where to Find It in Creative Mode
Java Edition (PC/Mac)
| Version(s) | Creative Menu Location |
|---|---|
| 1.12 | Building Blocks |
| 1.13 – 1.20 | Colored Blocks |
In newer versions, light gray concrete powder moved to the Colored Blocks section, so keep that in mind if you’re hopping between versions.
What You Need to Craft It
To craft light gray concrete powder, you’ll need:
- 4 Sand
- 4 Gravel
- 1 Light Gray Dye
Quick tip: In Bedrock Edition you can swap regular sand for red sand, but Java Edition doesn’t allow this swap. Stick with regular sand if you’re on PC.
How to Craft It
Step 1: Open Your Crafting Table
Grab a crafting table and open it. You’ll see the 3×3 crafting grid.
Step 2: Place Your Materials
Arrange your materials in this pattern:
- Row 1: Gravel, Sand, Gravel
- Row 2: Sand, Light Gray Dye, Sand
- Row 3: Gravel, Sand, Gravel
The dye goes in the center. This specific pattern is important, so don’t mix it up.
Step 3: Grab Your Result
Once you’ve placed everything correctly, light gray concrete powder will appear in the result box. Click it to grab it and add it to your inventory. You’ll get 8 blocks from one crafting operation.
Done! You’ve got your light gray concrete powder ready to use.

Block States (Bedrock Edition)
If you’re on Bedrock, the color block state for light gray concrete powder is set to “silver”. This doesn’t affect crafting, but it matters for commands and data packs.
