Lava Dynamics Mod Overview
Lava Dynamics uses Block Update Detection (BUD) to bring vulcanism mechanics to Minecraft. When lava flows near you, it checks if the blocks underneath can be smelted. If they can, the lava converts them to their smelted forms automatically. Sand becomes glass. Cobblestone turns to stone. Diorite, andesite, and granite convert to their polished variants.
It’s a simple concept that creates tons of possibilities, especially when you combine it with big modpacks that have lots of custom blocks and smelting recipes.
What Lava Dynamics Does
Block Conversion
The mod watches for lava flow near your position. When lava moves over a block that has a valid smelting output, it instantly converts that block. You get all the vanilla conversions built in, plus any custom recipes you add.
Works With Modpacks
In large modpacks with tons of smelting recipes, this becomes really powerful. Every smelting recipe in your pack automatically works with lava flow, opening up new crafting and building possibilities.
