Weathered cut copper is a decorative building block that shows the second stage of copper oxidation. It was added in the Caves & Cliffs Update: Part I and lets you create detailed copper structures. This guide covers how to craft it, find it, and what you can make with it.
What is Weathered Cut Copper?
Weathered cut copper is the slab version of weathered copper. It has a greenish color with some brown streaks, showing that the copper has started oxidizing. You can use it for roofs, walls, and decorative builds.
The crafting recipe creates 4 weathered cut copper at once, making it efficient for large projects. It’s stackable up to 64 and works with the regular building mechanics.
Copper Aging Stages
Copper blocks go through 4 stages of aging in Minecraft:
| Stage | Block Name | Color |
|---|---|---|
| 1st Stage | Copper | Shiny brown |
| 2nd Stage | Exposed Copper | Brown with green flecks |
| 3rd Stage | Weathered Copper | Green with brown streaks |
| 4th Stage | Oxidized Copper | Solid green |
Weathered copper is the third stage. The copper slowly oxidizes over time, changing appearance as it ages. You can use honey or a scraper to clean it back to an earlier stage if you want.
How to Craft Weathered Cut Copper
Materials You Need
To make weathered cut copper, you need:
- 4 Weathered Copper blocks
Crafting Recipe
Open your crafting table to see the 3×3 grid. Place the 4 weathered copper blocks in a 2×2 pattern in the top-left corner of the crafting grid:
Weathered Copper | Weathered Copper Weathered Copper | Weathered Copper
This makes 4 weathered cut copper. The pattern looks like two copper blocks on top, two on the bottom, in the leftmost columns.
Getting Weathered Copper Blocks
To get weathered copper, you can either find copper ore and smelt it, or use existing copper blocks and let them oxidize. Weathered copper is the third stage, so you need to wait or use commands to advance the oxidation faster.
