Stripped birch logs are useful building materials in Minecraft that you get by removing the bark from regular birch logs with an axe. They look cleaner than regular logs and work great for construction projects.
What is a Stripped Birch Log?
A stripped birch log is a wood block with all the bark removed. It has a lighter appearance than regular birch logs and stacks up to 64. You can use it for building, crafting furniture, or making charcoal in a furnace. It’s purely cosmetic compared to regular birch wood, but looks much better in modern builds.
How to Get a Stripped Birch Log in Survival Mode
Step 1: Find a Birch Tree
Head out and locate a birch tree. You’ll find them most commonly in forest biomes. Look for white and black bark on the trunk. They grow pretty tall so they’re hard to miss.
Step 2: Get an Axe
You’ll need any axe to strip the bark. Wooden, stone, iron, diamond, golden, or netherite axes all work. Diamond axe is fastest, but any axe gets the job done.
Step 3: Strip the Bark with Your Axe
This step varies by platform:
- Java Edition (PC/Mac): Right click the birch log
- Pocket Edition: Tap the birch log
- Xbox 360 / Xbox One: Press LT
- PS3 / PS4: Press L2
- Nintendo Switch: Press ZL
- Windows 10 Edition: Right click the birch log
The bark will disappear and you’ll have a stripped birch log.
Step 4: Harvest the Stripped Birch Log
Now chop it down like you would any log:
- Java Edition (PC/Mac): Left click and hold
- Pocket Edition: Tap and hold
- Xbox 360 / Xbox One: Press and hold RT
- PS3 / PS4: Press and hold R2
- Nintendo Switch: Press and hold ZR
- Windows 10 Edition: Left click and hold
The log will drop and you can pick it up.
Step 5: Grab It
Pick up the stripped birch log before it despawns. It’ll go in your inventory.
