Slimeballs are one of the most useful drops in Minecraft. You’ll need them for sticky pistons, leads, and magma cream. Here’s how to get them and what you can make with them.
Finding Slimeballs in Creative Mode
If you’re playing in Creative mode, slimeballs are easy to grab. They’re in the Miscellaneous tab on versions 1.8 through 1.19, and in the Ingredients tab on 1.19.3 and newer.
How to Get Slimeballs in Survival Mode
Kill Slimes
The easiest way to get slimeballs is to hunt down slimes. You’ll find them in Swamp biomes, usually at night when it’s dark. Look for them in water or on land.
Slimes come in three sizes: large, medium, and small. Only the small ones drop slimeballs, so you need to kill the big ones first. Here’s how it works:
- Attack the large slime. It’ll turn pink as it takes damage.
- Keep hitting it until it dies. It’ll split into medium slimes.
- Kill the medium slimes. They’ll split into small slimes.
- Finish off the small slimes. These are the ones that drop slimeballs.
You can usually get 5 to 10 slimeballs from a single large slime. Make sure to pick them all up before they despawn.
How to Craft Slimeballs
You can also craft slimeballs if you have a slime block. One slime block gives you 9 slimeballs.
Crafting Recipe
- Open your crafting table
- Place 1 slime block in any slot of the 3×3 grid
- Take the 9 slimeballs from the result
