Savanna Biome Guide | Mobs, Villages & Seeds

Explore the Savanna biome in Minecraft. Find acacia trees, villages, llamas, and spawn seeds for this dry grassland biome.

The Savanna biome is one of Minecraft’s most distinctive biomes. It’s a dry grassland filled with acacia trees, golden grass, and herds of llamas. If you’re looking for a unique landscape to build on or just want to explore somewhere different, the Savanna is worth checking out.

What to Expect in the Savanna

The Savanna is a flat, dry biome in the Overworld. The grass has a brownish-green color that makes it stand out from other biomes. You’ll see acacia trees scattered across the landscape and plenty of water ponds. The weather never rains here, so it stays clear most of the time.

It’s a great biome for building because of the flat terrain and unique color palette. Plus, the mobs and villages you find here are actually useful for survival.

Trees and Vegetation

Acacia trees are the signature tree of the Savanna. They’re recognizable by their shape and orange-brown wood. You’ll find them scattered throughout the biome, making them easy to farm for wood and leaves.

The main flowers are dandelions and poppies, so if you’re looking to collect dyes, you won’t have trouble here.

Mobs You’ll Find

The Savanna spawns the usual mix of passive and hostile mobs:

  • Llamas (unique to Savanna)
  • Horses
  • Donkeys
  • Sheep
  • Cows
  • Pigs
  • Chickens

At night, you’ll get the standard hostile mobs like creepers, zombies, skeletons, spiders, endermen, and witches. Nothing special compared to other biomes.

Blocks You’ll Find

The surface is mostly grass blocks with the unique greenish-brown color. Dig down and you’ll hit the standard underground blocks: dirt, stone, coal ore, iron ore, gold ore, copper ore, diamond ore, and redstone ore.

Savanna Villages

Villages spawn here, and they’re a good find. You’ll get a group of buildings with gardens. Villagers grow potatoes, carrots, and wheat, so if you’re running low on food, you can harvest their crops. You can also trade with villagers for rare items you can’t get easily elsewhere.
