Minecraft’s biome updates move slowly. The dev team tackles them one at a time, and the savanna’s been waiting for a while. This addon launched just a week after Minecraft Live 2022, and it adds a ton of new content for deserts and savannas. Sand and Savanna Expansion Addon (1.19) brings new biomes, mobs, blocks, and quality of life features that make these biomes way more interesting.
What’s Included
- Quiver Forest (new desert sub-biome)
- Quiver Trees (grow them with bonemeal)
- Desert Shark (dangerous mob that hunts from beneath the sand)
- Termite Hills (natural growing structures)
- Quiver item (carries up to 4 stacks of arrows)
- New building blocks for desert and savanna themes
- Improved savanna generation with better colors and layout
Quiver Forest
A new desert sub-biome filled with quiver trees. These tall trees look great and are purely decorative, but you can grow more of them using bonemeal on the quiver leaves.
Desert Sharks
These mobs hide under sand and wait for prey. They pull any mob that walks over them down into the sand to suffocate. Keep your eyes open when crossing deserts.
Termite Hills
Termite hills grow over time on their own. They start small and expand into large mounds. Each one is procedurally generated, so no two hills look the same. They add a lot of character to savanna landscapes.
Quiver
Craft a quiver from quiver stems and put it in your off-hand slot. Fill it with up to 4 stacks of arrows by crouching while holding it. When you shoot with a bow or crossbow, the quiver automatically feeds arrows until it’s empty. Great for long battles.
Updated Savanna
The savanna biome got some tweaks to terrain generation and colors. It feels more unique now and stands out better from other grassland biomes.
