What does Rhino Mod actually do?

It adds the Rhino JavaScript engine to Minecraft. This gives other mods the ability to use JavaScript scripting. It doesn't add any gameplay features by itself.

Do I need to install this?

Only if another mod you're using requires Rhino as a dependency. Check the mod description to see if it lists Rhino. If it does, grab the version matching your Minecraft version.

Forge or Fabric - which do I download?

Whichever mod loader your Minecraft uses. If you're not sure, Forge is more common. Just make sure the version number matches your Minecraft version.

Why is this better than Nashorn?

Nashorn was removed from Java 15. Rhino works independently of Java's built-in engine, so it works with newer Java versions. Plus it supports ES6 features.
