Primitive Mobs adds a whole bunch of crazy new creatures to Minecraft that you’ve never seen before. Some are cute, some are dangerous, and some will straight up ruin your day. You’ll run into treasure slimes that drop rare items, shape-shifting chameleons that blend into any block, floating haunted tools that attack on sight, and creepers that jump into the sky before exploding. There’s also the Mimic chest that could be real loot or a nasty surprise when you right-click it.
The mod pulls inspiration from other games and older Minecraft mods to bring back forgotten creatures with new twists. Everything from traveling merchants who wander your world to brain slimes that attach to your head.
New Mobs
Treasure Slime
The main attraction of this mod. These colorful slimes are a lot more valuable than regular slimes. Each one contains a specific item that drops when you kill it. Small slimes usually just have slimeballs, but larger ones hold anything from diamonds to music discs. The color and particle effects tell you what’s inside before you smash it.
Traveling Merchants
These villagers don’t stay in one place. They wander around in rivers, forests, and plains just like animals do. They won’t despawn and trade random stuff from all the testificate classes mixed together. If another mod adds items to villager trades, these merchants will have them too.
Lost Miners
Found underground crying for help. They’ll follow you around while emitting sad particles. Bring them back to the surface (above y=60) and they’ll reward you with emeralds. Each Lost Miner can only be rescued once.
Sheepman
Weird villagers that got stuck in the Nether and turned into sheep. They love gold and will trade with you for gold ingots. Give them a free gold block and they won’t despawn, so you can build them a house and keep a trader around. They make sheep noises and can’t burn in fire.
Chameleon
These critters change color based on whatever block they’re standing on. Good luck spotting them when they’re camouflaged. Kill them to get Camouflage Dye, or tame one with a watermelon to keep as a pet.
Haunted Tools
Floating tools that attack players on sight. They come in different types (pickaxe, axe, shovel, sword) and different tiers (wood, stone, gold, iron, diamond). A diamond haunted tool is worth killing since it drops the tool itself. There’s also a super rare Precious Pickaxe variant.
Mimic Chest
Chests in caves might not be what they seem. Right-click one and find out if it’s real loot, a trap, an evil mimic creature, or something else entirely. The outcomes range from actual dungeon treasure to an ender chest variant to a zombie wearing a chest as a hat.
Spider Family
Mother Spiders spawn with baby spiders riding on their backs. They’re protective and dangerous. When the mother dies, the babies cry and wander around upset. Kill a Mother Spider to get a Spider Egg, then use it to spawn a baby spider that thinks you’re its mom. Baby spiders can be tamed and will follow you.
Rocket Creeper
These creepers jump straight into the sky before exploding when they land. It’s actually dodgeable in open spaces, but good luck in a cave. They’re faster than normal creepers and rarer too.
Festive Creeper
The worst kind of creeper. It throws TNT at you from a distance, then runs away with a trail of fire protecting it. Get close and it stops throwing, but be careful when its health gets low because it goes berserk. It’s immune to fire and explosions, so prepare yourself.
Brain Slime
Jump around on beaches and grab onto players’ heads like parasites, sucking your brain. Punch them to get them off. Bigger slimes cause more damage.
Installation Instructions
