What is Packed Mud?
Packed mud is a building block that was added to Minecraft in the Wild Update (version 1.19). It’s made by combining mud with wheat, and it’s got a nice earthy texture that works great for building rustic structures. You can stack it up to 64 and use it to craft mud bricks.
Finding Packed Mud in Creative Mode

Crafting Packed Mud in Survival Mode
What You Need
To craft packed mud, you’ll need:
- 1 Mud
- 1 Wheat
The Crafting Recipe
Here’s how to make it:
- Open your crafting table to access the 3×3 crafting grid.
- Place 1 mud in the first slot of the top row.
- Place 1 wheat in the second slot of the top row.
- Drag the packed mud from the result box into your inventory.
That’s it. You now have packed mud to use in your builds.

Give Command
If you want to give yourself packed mud in Creative mode or via command, use:
/give @p packed_mud 1
Change the number to get more than one block at a time.
What to Make with Packed Mud
The main thing you can craft from packed mud is mud bricks. These blocks have a fired clay appearance and work well for building decorative structures. If you’re working on a muddy or swamp-themed build, packed mud gives you more design options than regular mud.
