Origin Shader 1.20 – Deferred Rendering

Origin Shader 1.20 brings deferred rendering to Minecraft Bedrock with SSAO and emissive lighting. Download for Android and Windows.

Origin Shader 1.20 Overview

Origin Shader 1.20 is an experimental fork that brings deferred rendering to Minecraft Pocket Edition. It’s built on the Origin Shader 3.5.8 codebase but strips things down to focus on new rendering tech. If you want to see what modern Minecraft graphics could look like, this is worth testing out.

What’s Included

New features in this version:

  • Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO)
  • Emissive lighting

From the original shader:

  • Chunk animations

Not in this version (but in the original):

  • The Milky Way
  • Redstone Tools
  • Water caustics
  • Light and chunk borders

Performance Notes

Be aware: this shader is experimental. It’s incomplete, has bugs, and it lags. A lot. Use a PBR texture pack to get the best results. We recommend Vanilla PBR. Make sure the shader loads above your texture pack in your resource packs list.

Tested on:

  • Android 1.20.40.22 Preview with Adreno 730 GPU
  • Windows 1.20.30.20 Preview with GTX 1660
