OgreCraft adds dangerous ogres to Minecraft. These large, hostile creatures build villages and spawn with different roles: warriors, common adults, and babies. They remember campfire locations, interact with each other, and will attack if you damage their reputation. If you’re looking to make your world more hostile and dangerous, this mod brings a new faction of mobs that behave more like organized creatures than simple animals.
Ogre Types and Behavior
Alpha Ogre
The leader of an ogre village. This mob spawns at the center of the structure, sitting on a throne. It commands respect from other ogres in the settlement.
Warrior Ogres
- Taller than common ogres, with 80 health points
- Armed with iron swords (sometimes wielding two)
- Don’t interact with other ogres, only listen to them
- Never sit and relax like other ogres do
- The strongest ogres in the village
Common Ogres
- Adult ogres that sit and observe their surroundings
- Will report your presence to other ogres (sometimes)
- Can equip stone swords or stone hammers they find
- Wear different clothing: standard, gardener, or smith variants
- Can talk to you by right-clicking
- Accept trades: give them tourmalines for random items (better items if you have good reputation)
- Will accept cooked ogre thighs as gifts and reward you in return
Baby Ogres
- Smaller versions of common ogres that grow into either adults or warriors
- Run away when attacked, preferring to stay near warrior ogres
- Can eat food but give poor rewards for gifts
Ogre Villages
Ogres spawn exclusively in their own villages. Don’t break the blocks in these structures unless you want trouble. Damaging the village reduces your reputation and makes ogres hostile. Most village blocks can be obtained through trading, so you don’t need to break them except for ogre monuments.
Important Behaviors
- All ogres remember and stay near their preferred campfire locations
- They won’t wander far from their campfire
- Bad reputation with ogres results in them attacking you on sight
- Ogres communicate with each other and react to threats together
