No Tree Punching Data Pack 1.18, 1.17.1

No Tree Punching Data Pack makes early game harder by stopping bare-handed tree punching. Craft flint tools instead. Minecraft 1.18, 1.17.1.

No Tree Punching is a data pack that actually makes the early game challenging. Normally you punch a few trees, grab some stone, and you’re ready for iron within minutes. This pack stops that. Once installed, breaking logs with your bare hands won’t drop wood. You need flint tools first, which means collecting drops from grass and leaves instead.

What It Does

No Bare-Handed Logging

Logs don’t drop wood when punched without a tool. You’ll have to gather resources differently and actually think about your early progression path.

Flint Tool Crafting

Collect flint, string from grass, and sticks from leaves to craft your first set of tools. It’s a small change that makes the opening feel less automatic.

How to Install

This data pack requires both a data pack file and a resource pack to work. You need both.

  1. Head over to our data pack installation guide for full instructions
  2. Download both files below
  3. Place the data pack in your world’s datapacks folder
  4. Place the resource pack in your resource packs folder
