Minecraft 1.19 PE/Bedrock The Wild Update
Minecraft 1.19, also known as “The Wild Update,” dropped on June 7, 2022. Version 1.19.0 is available for Android, iOS, iPadOS, Fire, Windows, Xbox, and PlayStation. Nintendo Switch got version 1.19.1 with the same features. This update adds a ton of new content, from creepy sculk blocks in the deep dark to frogs and mangrove swamps.
New Biomes
Deep Dark
The deep dark is a new cave biome found deep underground. It’s filled with sculk blocks and is home to one of the most dangerous mobs in the game, the warden. This biome is dark and dangerous, so bring plenty of light sources if you want to explore safely. The ancient cities spawn here, which have rare loot like echo shards and disc fragments.
Mangrove Swamp
Mangrove swamps are warm, watery biomes where mangrove trees grow. These trees have their own unique wood type and roots. You’ll find frogs and tadpoles here, plus plenty of mud. It’s a good place to gather new wood types and find frogspawn for breeding.
New Blocks
Sculk Blocks
Sculk is the main block in the deep dark biome. It grows when mobs die near sculk catalysts. You can mine sculk for experience, or use silk touch to keep it intact. There are also sculk veins, sculk shriekers, and sculk sensors that detect vibrations.
Mangrove Wood
A new wood type that comes from mangrove trees. You can craft it into planks, stairs, slabs, doors, boats, and all the usual wood items. The mangrove planks are a nice brown color and look great in builds.
Mud
Mud blocks spawn in mangrove swamps. You can also craft mud by using a water bottle on dirt. Entities sink slightly when walking on mud, similar to soul sand. You can turn mud into packed mud and then mud bricks for building.
Mangrove Roots
Decorative blocks that can be waterlogged. They’re see-through like leaves and can be mined faster with an axe. Unlike regular leaves, they don’t break when moved by pistons.
Froglight
A light source dropped by small magma cubes when eaten by frogs. It comes in three colors based on the frog type: pearlescent (white frog), verdant (green frog), and ochre (orange frog). Emits a full brightness light level.
Other Blocks
The update also adds reinforced deepslate (extremely hard, found in ancient cities), frogspawn (water blocks that hatch tadpoles), and various mud-related blocks like mud bricks.
New Mobs
Allay
A flying mob that collects dropped items for you. Give it an item and it’ll search for more of that item in the world. Drop items at note blocks by playing them. Allays are useful for sorting systems and item collection. Found in pillager outposts and woodland mansions.
Frog
A new passive mob that lives in mangrove swamps and tadpoles. You can breed them with slimeballs. Different frog variants depend on the biome they grew up in. Frogs eat small magma cubes and drop froghights.
Tadpole
Baby frogs that hatch from frogspawn blocks. They grow into adult frogs based on the biome they’re in. You can catch them in buckets.
Warden
The scariest mob in 1.19. It spawns in the deep dark when you activate sculk shriekers. This thing is fast, tough, and hits hard. Your best bet is to sneak around and avoid letting it know you’re there. One of the few mobs that can kill you on hard difficulty.
New Items
Echo Shards – Rare items found in ancient city chests. Craft 8 of them around a compass to make a recovery compass.
Recovery Compass – Points to the last place you died. Super useful for finding your stuff after dying.
Disc Fragment 5 – Rare item from ancient cities. Craft 9 of them into the new music disc “5”.
Goat Horn – Drops when goats ram certain blocks. Can be used to make a loud sound. Eight different variants with unique sounds.
Mangrove Boat – A new boat type made from mangrove planks.
Bucket of Tadpole – Catch tadpoles in a water bucket to transport them.
Installation Instructions
To install Minecraft PE/Bedrock 1.19:
- Download the version for your device (Android, iOS, Windows, Xbox, PlayStation, or Switch)
- Open the download and it will automatically update your game
- Launch Minecraft and create a new world to try out the new biomes and features
If you’re downloading add-ons or behavior packs, download the .mcpack or .mcaddon file, tap it, and it will import into Minecraft automatically.
Version Compatibility
Minecraft 1.19.0 works on Android, iOS, iPadOS, Fire tablets, Windows 10 and later, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Nintendo Switch users get version 1.19.1 with the same features.
All these devices can play together in multiplayer through Realms or local worlds.
