How do I tame dinosaurs in MC Ark?

Knock out creatures with a wooden club or narcotic arrows (depends on the dinosaur), then feed them the right food. Smaller creatures need apples or berries, larger ones need meat. Some like Pegomastax can be tamed passively by just feeding them.

Can I ride all the dinosaurs?

Most can be ridden once tamed, but some work better for mounting than others. Moschops lets you ride without a saddle. Raptors and large dinos need a saddle. Small creatures like Compy and Pegomastax sit on your shoulder instead.

What are narcotic arrows used for?

Narcotic arrows knock out medium and large creatures so you can tame them. You craft them by first making narcotics in a mortar block, then crafting narcotic arrows at a regular crafting table using those narcotics.

Do I need a whip to use special attacks?

Yes. The whip activates special attacks for most dinosaurs once they're tamed. For example, Raptors grab nearby mobs with claws, and the Rex roars to strengthen allies.

Which dinosaurs drop the best loot?

Raptor Alpha drops enchanted tools and saddles. Regular raptors drop narcotic arrows. Most dinos drop leather, meat, and experience. Wyverns drop wyvern milk which they also need as food.

MC Ark adds dinosaurs and wyverns to Minecraft Bedrock with mechanics inspired by the ARK survival game. You get 15+ creatures to tame and ride, each with unique attacks, taming requirements, and loot. The addon includes a full taming system with knockout mechanics, special weapons, and mounting.

Dinosaurs and Creatures

Small Creatures

Coelacanth – A fish you can catch in oceans and rivers. Drops raw cod when killed.

Dodo – An easy first tame. Knock it out with a wooden club and feed it apples or berries. Health scales with size, so bigger dodos give more meat. Found in plains, savanna, jungle, and beach.

Compy – Tiny dinosaurs that attack in packs. Knock out with a wooden club and feed meat or lamb. Can climb on your shoulder once tamed. Spawn everywhere.

Pegomastax – A shoulder pet that steals your stuff if wild. Tame passively with sweet berries. Helps you carry items and sits on your shoulder. Lives in plains, savanna, forest, jungle, and beach.

Medium Creatures

Dilophosaurus – Spits poison that blinds you, then eats you. Knock out with a wooden club or narcotic arrow, then feed meat. Leaves you blinded so be careful. Spawns in plains, swamp, jungle, and beach.

Moschops – A rideable tank with zero damage output. Passive taming with food. Mount without a saddle and it acts like a pet dog. Found in plains, forest, and jungle.

Parasaurus – Good meat source if you can catch it. Shy creature that scares raptors away when tamed. Knock out and feed it berries or apples. Located in plains, forest, and jungle.

Raptors

Raptor – Dangerous in packs, deadly claws. Knock out with narcotic arrows and feed meat. Use a whip to trigger their special attack (grab nearby mobs with claws). Found in plains, savanna, and jungle.

Raptor Alpha – The pack leader. 150 health, high damage. Alerts all nearby raptors when close. Drops enchanted tools and saddles. Spawns in plains, savanna, and jungle.

Raptor Tek – Glows in the dark. Slightly tougher than normal raptors. Tame with narcotic arrows and metal ingots instead of meat. Spawns in plains, savanna, and jungle.

Large Dinosaurs

Trike – Calm until provoked. Charges with a running attack that lasts 8 seconds. Use a whip to activate special charge attack. Gives creatures nearby a weakness effect. Found in plains, savanna, jungle, and forest.

Rex – The strongest dinosaur. Hard to tame (needs lots of narcotic arrows and meat). Roars to give nearby tamed creatures the strength effect. Can jump and hit with a whip. Spawns in plains, frozen, desert, jungle, and taiga.

Wyverns

Fire Wyvern – Explosive breath that burns everything. 180 health, high damage. Eats wyvern milk. Spawns in mesas. Taming coming in a future update.

Poison Wyvern – Poisons with projectiles and melee attacks. 180 health. Eats wyvern milk. Found in swamps. Taming coming soon.

Ice Wyvern – Freezes creatures with breath attacks. Lowest health of the three (160) but immobilizes targets. Eats wyvern milk. Spawns in frozen biomes.

Electric Wyvern – The strongest dragon with lightning attacks. 200 health, 25 damage. Calls lightning on enemies. Eats wyvern milk. Spawns in mesas.

New Items and Tools

Whip – Activates special attacks for dinosaurs and wyverns.

Wooden Club – Used to knock out small and medium creatures for taming. Works as a weapon too.

Narcoberry – Found throughout the world. Craft into narcotics using the mortar block, then make narcotic arrows at the crafting table.

Mortar – Crafts narcotics, gunpowder, and other items.

Dinosaur Saddle – Mounts for rideable dinosaurs.
