This Minecraft tutorial explains the Lure enchantment and how to use it on your fishing rod.
What is the Lure Enchantment?
Lure is a fishing rod enchantment that makes fish bite faster. Instead of waiting a minute or more between bites, Lure speeds things up dramatically. If you fish a lot, this enchantment saves serious time.
You can get Lure from:
- Enchanting tables
- Anvils (combining with enchanted books)
- Fishing (rare drops)
- Creative mode commands
Lure Levels and Stats
| Enchantment Name | Lure |
|---|---|
| Min Level | Level 1 (Lure I) |
| Max Level | Level 3 (Lure III) |
| What It Does | Increases the rate at which fish bite your hook |
| Works On | Fishing Rods |
| How to Get It | Enchanting Table, Anvil, or /enchant command |
Using Your Enchanted Fishing Rod
Once you have a fishing rod with Lure, just hold it in your hand and cast your line into the water like normal.
Watch for bubbles popping out of the water. Lure makes these bubbles appear much faster than usual. When the bubbles get close to your line and the bobber dips under, a fish is biting.
Click to reel in and catch your fish. Higher Lure levels mean less waiting between bites.

Lure vs Luck of the Sea
Don’t confuse Lure with Luck of the Sea. Lure makes fish bite faster. Luck of the Sea improves the quality of what you catch (treasure vs junk). Use both together for the best fishing experience.
