What's the difference between Readers and Writers?

Readers pull data from blocks and machines into your network so you can see what's happening. Writers push commands back out to interact with those blocks. Together they let you monitor and control your world.

Can I use this with mods from other mod creators?

Yes, that's one of the core goals of Integrated Dynamics. It's built to integrate with modded machines that support Readers and Writers, so you can automate and control stuff from other mods.

Is the energy cost required?

Network energy consumption is disabled by default. You can turn it on in the config if you want your automation to cost RF power.

What are Facades and why would I use them?

Facades let you hide your cables inside solid blocks so they don't clutter your builds. Your network keeps working the same, you just can't see the cables anymore.

Do I need Cyclops Core and Common Capabilities Mod?

Yes, both are required dependencies. Make sure to download and install them before installing Integrated Dynamics.

Integrated Dynamics is a mod that lets you build automation networks to control pretty much anything in your world. It’s like if bundled redstone, BuildCraft gates, and Applied Energistics had a baby. Want to automate complex tasks and integrate different systems? This is the mod for you.

The core idea is simple: use Readers to pull data from the world, Variables to store that data, and Writers to make things happen based on that data. Then you write Logic operations to decide what should happen when.

Readers and Writers

Readers are basically your sensors. They look at machines, fluid tanks, inventories, and other blocks to pull information out. Different reader types handle different things, so you can read just about anything your world has.

Writers are the opposite. They interact with the world based on what your network decides. Open doors, activate machines, transfer items, whatever you need to happen.

Each reader has tons of aspects you can pull from. Reading a chest? Check how many items are in it, what’s in each slot, whatever you need to know.

Variables and Storage

Variables let you store the data you’re reading. Put them in a Variable Store and your network can access them, manipulate them, and use them for decisions.

Display your variables on a screen for debugging, or just to show off your setup. Visual feedback makes it way easier to understand what’s happening in a complex network.

Logic Programming

The Logic Programmer is where things get powerful. Write operations to handle complex automation tasks. Want to open a door only if two conditions are true at the same time? Done. Need to sort items by count and send them different places? Easy.

You can use operators as values for map, filter, and reduce operations. Chain them with Charset pipes and you’ve got a fully-fledged fine-grained sorting system.
