Hooked Mod 1.12.2
Hooked Mod adds grappling hooks to Minecraft. They’re designed to feel natural and work exactly when you need them. The mod gives you a fast, intuitive way to swing across your world instead of relying on creative flight.
Why This Mod Works
It’s Simple
- Hooks shoot in a straight line, no aiming tricks needed
- Constant pull speed, so you know how long each swing takes
- Bound to a keybind instead of an item, so you can use it instantly
- Release with spacebar, that’s it
It’s Natural to Use
- The controls become automatic after a few minutes, like sneaking
- No durability means you’ll use hooks whenever it makes sense, no resource anxiety
- Hooks don’t have a drop mechanic, so you don’t need perfect aim every time

- Works from your first night through endgame
- Mine at full speed while swinging, unlike with flight
- No durability means infinite uses
- Simulates on both client and server, so lag won’t break your swings
- Gives you creative flight alternatives without feeling overpowered
Hook Types
Wood Hook – Your first option, not great but better than nothing early on.
Iron Hook – Solid all-rounder. Costs 13 iron and 2 sticks. Worth the grind.
Diamond Hook – The best hook for most situations. Fast enough and long enough for anything you’ll actually need.
Ender Hook – Diamond hook sidegrade. Overkill fast and ridiculous range. Fun for showing off.
Red Hook – Diamond hook sidegrade. Only one with creative flight style movement, but confined to the hooks you’ve placed. Stack multiple hooks to create a movement area (1 hook = vertical column, 2 = line, 3 = triangle, 4 = pyramid).
How to Install
This mod requires Minecraft Forge. If you don’t have Forge installed yet, follow our Minecraft Forge installation guide.
Step 1: Download the mod file below
Step 2: Place the .jar file in your .minecraft/mods folder
Step 3: Launch Minecraft with the Forge profile
We recommend installing Just Enough Items to see all the mod’s crafting recipes in-game.
