Heavy Core is a rare item from Trial Chambers that drops from vault loot. You combine it with a Breeze Rod to craft a Mace, one of Minecraft’s most powerful weapons.
What is a Heavy Core?
A Heavy Core is a dense block found only in Trial Chambers. It’s one of the harder items to get since you need to open vaults and get lucky with the loot drops. The main reason to hunt for one is crafting the Mace.
Item Properties
Stackable: Yes (up to 64)
Renewable: No
Hardness: 10
Mining tool: Any tool works in Java Edition. Bedrock Edition requires a pickaxe.
Where to Find Heavy Core
Heavy Cores only come from vault loot in Trial Chambers. You get about a 2.1% chance to get one when you open a vault. Since Trial Chambers are tough and dangerous, this makes Heavy Core pretty rare.
Mining Heavy Core
In Java Edition, you can mine a Heavy Core with your bare hands or any tool. In Bedrock Edition, you need a pickaxe. If you mine it without a pickaxe in Bedrock, it won’t drop anything.
How to Use Heavy Core
Crafting a Mace
The main use for Heavy Core is crafting a Mace. You need one Heavy Core and one Breeze Rod. Place the Heavy Core in the center and surround it with the Breeze Rod. The Mace is a huge two-handed weapon that deals massive damage when you fall while holding it.
Blocking Explosions
Heavy Core blocks also protect blocks behind them from explosions, similar to obsidian. If an explosion happens directly on top of a Heavy Core, it blocks most nearby explosions. Entities are still affected normally though.
Minecraft Versions
Heavy Core was added in Minecraft 1.21. It’s available in both Java Edition and Bedrock Edition.
