Halogen Mod 1.16.5
Halogen is a performance mod that boosts your FPS and kills micro-stutter in Minecraft 1.16.5. It’s basically a Forge version of Sodium with some extra tweaks and features built in. If you’ve used Sodium on Fabric, you’ll recognize how it works. This version also bakes in Lithium and Phosphor for even better performance.
One thing to know: Halogen doesn’t play well with Optifine, Performant, or Immersive Portals. You’ll have to pick one or the other. But it works fine on servers and single-player, and you can run it client-only if you want.
What You Get
The mod comes with vanilla-like settings by default, so you won’t notice huge visual changes out of the box. But if you want to squeeze every frame you can get, there are options to tweak. Disable Vsync in your video settings and crank Max Framerate to Unlimited to see the real difference.
Best Performance Settings
If you’re going for max FPS, change these in the video options:
- General tab:
- Render Distance: however low you want
- Use VSync: Off
- Max Framerate: Unlimited
- Advanced tab:
- Translucency Sorting: Off
- Use Leaves Culling: On
Installation Requirements
You’ll need Minecraft Forge installed for 1.16.5. After that, drop the Halogen jar file into your mods folder (.minecraft/mods) and you’re done.
