Glass is one of the most useful blocks in Minecraft. It’s transparent, lets light through, and looks clean in any build. Whether you’re making windows, skylights, or decorative displays, you’ll need to know how to craft it.
Finding Glass in Creative Mode
If you just want to grab glass in creative mode, head to the building blocks tab. In newer versions (1.19.3+) it moved to the colored blocks section instead.
What You Need to Make Glass
To craft glass in survival mode, you need:
- Sand or red sand (1 block per glass)
- Fuel (coal, charcoal, wood, etc.)
- A furnace
How to Craft Glass Step by Step
Step 1: Open Your Furnace
Place a furnace down or right-click an existing one. This opens the furnace menu.
Step 2: Add Fuel to the Bottom Slot
Put fuel in the bottom slot of the furnace. Coal works great. You can also use charcoal, wood logs, planks, or lava buckets.
Step 3: Place Sand in the Top Slot
Put sand or red sand in the top input slot. The furnace starts cooking immediately. You’ll see the flames pop on.
Step 4: Collect Your Glass
After a few seconds, glass appears in the output slot on the right. Drag it into your inventory. Done.
