GamemodeOverhaul Mod Overview
GamemodeOverhaul brings back commands and command arguments that Minecraft removed after version 1.13. The best part? You only need it on the server. Players can join and use all the restored commands without installing anything client-side.
What Commands Does It Restore?
Gamemode Commands
Use letters and numbers instead of full names:
/gamemode sp– Switch to spectator mode/gamemode 2– Switch to adventure mode/gm c– Quick command to change to creative mode/gm 0– Quick command to change to survival mode/gmc– Instant creative mode shortcut/gms– Instant survival mode shortcut
Default Gamemode Commands
Set the world’s default gamemode with the same shorthand support:
/defaultgamemode 1– Set default to creative/defaultgamemode s– Set default to survival/dgm c– Shorter version of the command/dgm 0– Set default gamemode with numbers
Other Restored Commands
Difficulty now works with numbers again:
/difficulty 1– Set to normal difficulty/difficulty 0– Set to peaceful
The /kill command works without arguments (defaults to the nearest player).
Fully Configurable
Enable only the commands you want. Disable the rest. Complete control over what your server uses.
Installation
Requirements
- Minecraft Forge (Forge versions only)
- Fabric Modloader (Fabric versions only)
- Fabric API (Fabric versions only)
Installation Steps
- Install your mod loader (Forge or Fabric) for your Minecraft version
- Download the GamemodeOverhaul mod file
- Place the JAR file in your
.minecraft/modsfolder - Launch Minecraft
