Flashlight Addon for Minecraft 1.19
Exploring dark caves and building horror maps just got better. The Flashlight addon adds a craftable item that lights up whatever you’re looking at. It’s useful for survival gameplay and makes spooky maps way more fun. The addon has realistic light beams that don’t penetrate solid blocks, giving you actual visibility control instead of lighting up entire caves.
What You Get
A new flashlight item that you can toggle on and off. The flashlight detects solid blocks within 10 blocks and keeps light from going through walls. It’s got separate models for on and off states, so you can see what you’re doing. Best part: unlimited uses, no battery meter needed.
How to Craft It
The flashlight recipe is simple:
- 4 iron ingots
- 1 copper ingot
- 1 glass
- 1 redstone lamp
How It Works
Right-click on PC or long-press on mobile to toggle the flashlight on and off. The light beam spreads realistically and stops when it hits a solid block. This keeps the light from bleeding through walls, making caves and horror maps feel more immersive.
Setup Required
This addon needs a bit of manual setup to work properly. Here’s what you do:
- Place a repeating command block set to Always Active with 0-tick delay
- Enter this command:
function flashlight_beam - Stand on top of the command block and add a ticking area with:
/tickingarea add ~~~ ~~~ oxstudio_initializer
Why the setup? The author found that tick.json causes light flicker. Using a repeating command block keeps the light consistent.
What’s Not Included
Offhand support isn’t available yet (the author is still working on the first-person view). There’s no battery system by default, but the author plans to add a battery subpack for players who want durability limits.
Compatibility
You need Minecraft 1.19.50 or higher. It might work on 1.19.20, but anything lower won’t work. The addon uses newer execute syntax that only came in 1.19.10.
Make sure cheats are enabled and experimental toggles are turned on in your world settings.
