Do I need both Forge and Fabric to run this mod?

No. Pick one mod loader. Most versions have a Forge version available. Install the mod loader first, then add the .jar file to your mods folder.

Does changing my fake name affect my real Minecraft account?

No. The fake name only shows on that specific world or server. Your actual username and skin stay unchanged. Both the server and the player need the mod for it to work.

Can I use this on a multiplayer server?

Yes, but the server owner needs to have the mod installed too. A single player with the mod can't fool a server without it.

What happens if I try to use this without OP or cheats enabled?

You won't be able to use the /fakename set or /fakename clear commands. The /realname command works for everyone though.

Fakename Mod Overview

The Fakename Mod lets you change your in-game name to mess with your friends. Want to pretend a famous YouTuber just joined your server? This mod lets you do it. Your chat messages, death messages, and name tags will all show your fake name. Just remember: your skin stays the same, so if you want a full YouTuber impression you’ll need to change that separately.

The best part? The fake name is world or server specific. It’s not permanent and it’s not a hack. Both sides need the mod installed for it to work properly.

How to Set a Fake Name

Command: /fakename set [player]

Sets a fake name for a player. Leave the player name blank to change your own name.
Supports color codes using the & symbol. For example, &6Notch displays in gold.
Use /- to add spaces. Example: My/-Name/-Is/-Tschipp displays as “My Name Is Tschipp”
Mix color codes and spaces together however you want.
You need to be OP or have cheats enabled on the server/world to use this command.

Clear a Fake Name

Command: /fakename clear [player]

Removes the fake name from a player. Leave player blank to clear your own.
Shortcuts: Use /fn or /fname instead of typing the full command.
You need OP or cheats enabled for this one too.

Find the Real Name

Command: /realname

Shows you the real name of a player with a fake name, ignoring color codes and spaces.
Example: &4Herobrine/-the/-Boss becomes HerobrinetheBoss when you search for it.
Tab completion works here to help you type.
Shortcuts: /rn or /rname
You don’t need OP or cheats to use this command.
