Crimson Nylium is a decorative block found in the Nether. This guide shows you how to find it and add it to your inventory in both Creative and Survival mode.
Finding Crimson Nylium in Creative Mode
Java Edition (PC/Mac)
You can find Crimson Nylium in the Creative Inventory menu. The location depends on your Minecraft version:
| Version | Menu Location |
|---|---|
| 1.16 – 1.19 | Building Blocks |
| 1.19.3 and newer | Natural Blocks |
Getting Crimson Nylium in Survival Mode
You can’t craft Crimson Nylium. Instead, you need to mine it directly from the Nether. Here’s how to do it.
Step 1: Find Crimson Nylium in the Nether
Crimson Nylium grows naturally in the Crimson Forest biome in the Nether. Look for the reddish/purplish-colored blocks on the ground. This is what Crimson Nylium looks like in the world.
Step 2: Get a Pickaxe with Silk Touch
Here’s the important part: you need a pickaxe enchanted with Silk Touch. Without it, the block will drop Netherrack instead of Crimson Nylium.
You can use any tier of pickaxe: Diamond, Netherite, Iron, Golden, Stone, or Wooden. Just make sure it has Silk Touch enchanted on it.
Step 3: Mine the Block
The mining controls depend on your platform:
- Java Edition: Left click and hold
- Pocket Edition: Tap and hold
- Xbox One: Press and hold RT
- PS4: Press and hold R2
- Nintendo Switch: Press and hold ZR
- Windows 10 Edition: Left click and hold
The block will break and drop as an item.
Step 4: Pick It Up
Collect the Crimson Nylium before it disappears. It will appear in your inventory.
Pro tip: Crimson Nylium without Silk Touch will drop Netherrack instead. So always use a Silk Touch tool to get the actual block.
