Is Better Biome Blend client-side only?

Yes. This is a client-side mod, so you only need it installed on your PC. You don't need it on the server or for multiplayer servers.

Will this mod affect my performance?

No. The mod is actually more optimized than Vanilla's biome blending. Even at 29×29 blend radius, it shouldn't impact your FPS.

Better Biome Blend Mod

Better Biome Blend makes biome color transitions way smoother. It replaces Vanilla’s default blending algorithm with a faster, better one that supports way larger blend radius. Instead of being limited by performance, you can crank biome blending up to 29×29 and still get solid FPS.

This is a client-side mod only. You don’t need it on the server, and it works with any server.

What’s Different from Vanilla

Vanilla’s biome blending is pretty limited. Better Biome Blend bumps it up to a permanent 29×29 radius with no performance hit. The old algorithm couldn’t handle 3D biomes properly (Minecraft 1.18+ added underground biomes), so this mod rewrote it from scratch.

The new algorithm also fixes grass, water, and leaves in caves. Vanilla doesn’t color those correctly in cave biomes. With Better Biome Blend, everything blends properly.

Performance

Unlike Vanilla, this mod’s biome blending doesn’t tank your FPS. Higher blend radius should feel basically free.

Compatibility

Works with Forge and Fabric. Should play nice with pretty much any other mod since it only touches biome color rendering.

How to Install
